2018 Czwartacki Fiction Award WInners

The 2018 Edward J. Czwartacki Award for Fiction
​

Presented to a Rowan University student for excellence in fiction writing.
 
Contestants: If you presently are enrolled as a student at Rowan University, either in an undergraduate or graduate program, you are invited to submit original fiction to this competition.
 
Awards: The first-place winner will receive $200; second place, $100 and third place, $50. At the discretion of the judges, an award may be divided between two or among three or more winners.
 
Rules:                 
  • You should submit one work of fiction, such as a short story or a novel excerpt, in any style or genre, of between three and 20 pages.
  • All manuscripts must be submitted typed, double-spaced in a 12-point font. Proofread your work meticulously as errors detract from the quality of your entry.
  • Create a Word or PDF file with the title of your collection as the file name. Do not place any identifying information in this file! Those who do will be disqualified. In the header for each page, put the title of the entry and page number.
  • Attach this file to an email where the subject line is “Submission for the 2018 Edward J. Czwartacki Award for Fiction.”
  • In the body of the email with the manuscript attachment (not in a separate document), include the following information:
                             “Submission for the 2018 Edward J. Czwartacki Award for Fiction”
                             Title of the piece:
                             Student’s name:
                             Email address:
                             Current mailing address:
                             Telephone number:
                             Class (i.e.: freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, graduate student):

Failure to follow manuscripts guidelines will disqualify your entry.
 
Email to WritingArtsDept@Rowan.edu. All entries must be received by 4 p.m., Friday, March 9, 2018.
 
Manuscripts will not be returned. Do not send your only copies.
 
The names of winners will be posted on the Writing Arts Department website (www.rowanwritingarts.org) during the week of March 26, 2018.
 
A reading by contest winners will be held at 7 p.m. on April 2, 2018 at the Rowan Art Gallery, 301 High Street. All contestants are cordially invited, and winners are expected to participate. The event is open to the public.
