Peer Review Guidelines for the Analysis Statement
Here’s what you need to do to conduct an online workshop on Blackboard.
Step 1Either through email or the Canvas discussion groups, you should establish a date by which you want to complete the group work. I suggest a week to 10 days.
|
Step 2
After accessing the Portfolio Seminar class in Canvas, click on “My Groups” on the left-hand menu. This should be a new link as of today.
Step 3
Click on “Group Journal.” This will take you to a screen where you will see this:
Step 4
Click on “Create Journal Entry.” Give the entry a title and add any comments you want. Attach your analysis statement as a Word document. Please make sure the file name includes your last name, for instance: kopp_PSAS_peerreviewdraft
|
Do not worry about sharing your portfolio pieces with your peers (though you will share your five pieces at the end, after your last revision of your Analysis Statement is complete). Your having incorporated your assignments into the Analysis Statement should be sufficient for your peers to get what is going on in your reflection. |
Step 5
Download your group members' Statements and save them to your computer. Using the “track changes” function in Word and the “comment” function, read and provide suggestions and feedback to the writer. If you do make changes to the document using track changes, add a comment to indicate it was you who did so.
Before and during the process, review the assignment, and more importantly, the criteria for evaluation. Does the writing demonstrate thorough understanding of the core? Has the writer successfully integrated the portfolio paper? There are two aspects to attend to: |
|
|
Step 6
When you are done making comments using "track changes” and “comment" features in Word, save the file adding your last name to the file name. For example: kopp_PSAS_peerreviewdraft_Maxson
Then in your Blackboard group, select “Create Journal Entry” again to upload the commented upon document back into Blackboard. Entries get posted in reverse-chronological order. |
Step 7
Having given and received feedback, revise your analysis statement. Save it once again using your last name (adding “final”), and upload it to your portfolio as a pdf, and invite your advisor and me to view the portfolio, if you haven’t done so already.
|
Step 8
Your advisor reviews the work and submits a final grade; I enter all the grades on the last day that I can turn in grades.
I have access to your Blackboard group site as well, so I'll be able to see that people are actually doing this and taking the group work seriously. |
