Graduate Programs
Master of Arts in Writing
Rowan’s well-established Master of Arts in Writing is housed in the Department of Writing Arts and provides students with a multidisciplinary approach to Writing. In addition to taking four core classes required of all MA students, graduate students develop their individual interests in one of the following tracks: Composition Studies, Creative Writing/Journalism, or New Media. Two elective courses allow students to explore areas of Writing outside their track or to further deepen their expertise in a chosen area. In workshop and seminar style classes, students work closely with knowledgeable faculty and talented students. As a culminating experience, students complete a Master’s project during Seminar I and II.
Certificates of Graduate Study
Certificates of Graduate Study (COGS) offer students a unique opportunity to study highly specialized topics in writing without committing to a full MA program. Students will enjoy the benefits of small classes, dedicated instructors, and talented fellow students. Courses completed as part of a COGS may be applied to the MA in Writing program if students decide to pursue the degree.
We currently offer 4 COGS:
Senior Privilege
Undergraduates of any major who meet the requirements may take our graduate classes for undergraduate cred through Senior Privilege. Upon admission to the MA in Writing, these credits may be transferred to graduate credit.
