2021 Denise Gess Literary Awards Finalists

Congratulations to the 15 finalists selected from 79 total entries in the 2020-2021 Denise Gess Literary Awards competition, sponsored by the Writing Arts Department.
 
Winners in each category of the first-, second-, and third-place prizes – of $200, $100, and $50 respectively – will be announced at an Awards Ceremony and Student Reading the evening of Wednesday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m. Click here to join in the festivities.
 
Two-person teams of faculty judges worked independently in each category to select four students as finalists in the Poetry category, five in Nonfiction, and six in Fiction.

• The four finalists in Poetry, chosen from 30 entries, are:

  • junior Skyla Everwine, and
    
  • sophomore Sophia Romano.
• The five Nonfiction finalists, out of 18 entries, are:

  • junior Rachel Ventrella, and
    
  • graduate student Zachary Short.
• In Fiction, from 31 entries, the six finalists are:

  • sophomore Chloe Mortier,
    
  • senior Dan Wash,
    
  • graduate student Katelyn Sullivan, and
    
  • graduate student Taylor Blum.
